Biography

Tanya “Jade Vine” Singh is an essayist, educator, editor, & visual artist — navigating life as a transgender non-binary individual in India with struggle and resistance. Their work has appeared in Gone Lawn, Minola Review, Polyphony H.S, and elsewhere, and has been recognized by the Timothy Corsellis Prize, the Times of India and Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Student Contest, among others.

They are the author of ‘Heaven is Only a Part of Our Body Where All the Sickness Resides’ as seen at Ghost City Press, 2018. Their chapbook, ‘This is Warning: I’m Too Tall to be Touched by Grace’ is forthcoming in 2021. Tanya is currently studying Philosophy and English at Miranda House, University of Delhi. Their research areas include Queer Theory; Feminist and critical pedagogy; Literary Activism; Social and Political Philosophy; Transformative Justice/Community Accountability; Disability; Sexuality; Queer & Transgender Justice; Community Art and Performance.

They are involved with various non-profit organizations and enjoy being on editorial teams for online and print literary journals. They are currently participating in the Society for Participatory Research in Asia’s (PRIA) Youth-and-Democracy Fellowship Program. They are also the Director of Young Changemakers Archive at The Human Projects and the Director of Journalism at Project Exchange. They are a 20 year-old Sagittarius from Chandigarh – who enjoys reading tarot cards for their friends. They would love to speak to you.
