The effect of the spill was far reached affecting the livelihoods of locals in an already dire covid-19 pandemic halted industry, TOURism.

What was an obviously avoidable disaster was left to flourish, and we sponsored advertising to create awareness about the spill, shared fundraising resources created by local agencies and started a petition to hold the Japanese MV Wakashio owners accountable and ensuring it doesn't reoccur.
