Caroline Tsai, 17, is a rising senior at an American high school in Shanghai, China. She previously started an Amazon business at the age of 16 and has since devoted her time to sustainability through programs such as Yale Young Global Scholars, and acting as an ambassador for companies such as FinalStraw. She also devoted her free time towards completing an internship at an investment firm on ESGs (Environmental, Social, Governance) criteria of sustainable and responsible investing and creating her own metrics to evaluate a company’s ESG performance as a risk indicator over the summer.
When Caroline noticed the detrimental effect of the air quality in China on the health of many, she became interested in sustainable energy. Her firm belief in the potential of the Gen-Z generation and the importance of social media to usher in a positive change drew her to LearnBlue.
She strives to apply her previous experiences and passion towards helping those around the world and locally in China. At present, Caroline is exploring the ways in which unconventional solutions such as entrepreneurship and business models can help tackle climate change and other environmental issues.
Her love for animals initially drew her to environmental issues at a young age, and her eagerness to learn has enabled her to continue exploring the cause. When she is not working with the LearnBlue team in the position of the Co-founder and Programs Director, she is playing with her French Bulldog Biscuit, or is in the kitchen cooking and baking all sorts of goodies!
